DONKEYS
The sure footed donkey
is a native of the rocky desert and barren mountains,
where running is difficult, thus freezing is the
best means of defence. It is this characteristic
which has led, unfairly, to the donkeys reputation
of being lazy and stubborn .
One
of the greatest differences between donkeys and
horses is their reaction to danger. A frightened
horse, being a native of the plains and escaping
danger by speed, when confronted by danger or a
seemingly dangerous situation will bolt.

Faced with the same situation a
donkey will usually freeze, depending on its immobility
and natural camouflage for safety.People who understand
the reasons for the donkeys reactions regard them as very
intelligent and choose to own a donkey because of their
easy going placid temperament.
We have owned donkeys since 1988 and been a breeding stud
since 1990.
We currently aim to breed small solid donkeys of 9 to
10 hands in height with good conformation and great temperaments.
The most common question we are asked is:
WHAT CAN YOU USE A DONKEY FOR
?
Riding, Driving, Snigging, Packing,
Guarding flocks of sheep or goats, Teaching cattle to
lead, Calming young horses and just for fun.

are current members of
